Make the best possible decisions, using PLATO, to reduce Phosphorus loss

PLATO helps you make best possible Phosporus decisions at field scale

Did you think Plato was an ancient Greek philosopher? If you did, you would be right. But PLATO is something else as well. It is the Phosphorus Loss Assessment Tool for Ontario (PLATO).

What is PLATO? Watch this new, short video, with Chris Van Esbroeck, Stewardship Services Coordinator at Maitland Conservation, to find out.

Watch it now:

"There are a number of factors that influence Phosphorus losses on agricultural fields, such as application timing and tillage," Chris said. "These factors can sometimes be hard to juggle when making a decision on manure or fertilizer application."

The Phosphorus Loss Assessment Tool for Ontario (PLATO) helps to boil all these factors down to make a more informed decision at the field scale, he said.

"This video provides an overview of PLATO and runs through some manure application scenarios to demonstrate how the tool can be used," Chris said. "Let us know if there are any other scenarios that you'd like to see ran through PLATO."
